Huawei Technologies Research & Development Belgium NV is developing technology platforms with
innovative structures which require photonic waveguides on multiple levels. To achieve these structures
typical CMOS-compatible processes are incorporated into an innovative photonics process flow on a
200mm Si / SOI platform resulting into photonic integrated circuits (PIC’s)
We are now looking for a Senior Process Integration Engineer that will take responsibility for the new
development activities for this platform in co-operation with leading research partners and foundries.
Your responsibilities will include:
Process development and integration of new platform development programs
- Establish a thorough understanding of the proposed process flows
- Define, characterize and optimize existing process steps / module with the overall performance
of the process and product in mind
- Analyze inline, optical and electrical data to evaluate process development activities
- Closely follow-up of lot movements
- Understanding the needs of different parties involved (external partners and foundries, Huawei
design, test and process development teams, Huawei HQ) and translating their needs into
specifications and implementation actions
- Assistance in the definition of design rules by the Huawei team to ensure product high yield
- Critical, continuous assessment of all processes involved with manufacturability in mind
Other
- Support and contribute to the overall development activities within Caliopa

Huawei Technologies Research & Development Belgium NV is headquartered in Gent, Belgium and
process development is done in cleanrooms in UGhent and Leuven. However this role would primarily
be based at imec in Leuven, Belgium as an IMEC resident/assignee
It is also likely that the role will involve travel and intermittently extended periods (weeks) as part of
process transfer activities in the future.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Preferably PhD degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or in a related technical discipline.
A Master degree is also considered in combination with demonstrated relevant experience.
- 5 years practical experience or PhD plus 3 years practical experience in a modern CMOS fab
in a role either in process integration or as a process engineer (preferably in multiple process
areas)
- Deep understanding of typical CMOS processes and their interactions. Demonstrated
experience with CMP / wafer bonding would be considered highly beneficial
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Good project management and project progress reporting skills
Other desirable skills would be an advantage (but are not strict requirements):
- Knowledge of photonics and photonic integrated circuits (PIC’s)
- Basic knowledge of Si device physics physics (photo-detectors, modulators,...)

- Dutch and/or Chinese language knowledge
